Air India will start a new non-stop service from Bengaluru to London Gatwick Airport.


From August 18, the Gurugram, India-based carrier announced it will start the Bengaluru-Gatwick route with five weekly flights (Monday, Wednesay, Thursday, Friday, Saturday). The airline will use Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the route with 256 seats – 18 Business and 238 Economy.  


"We are delighted to offer our guests convenient, non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick. This new route caters to the growing demand for travel between these two important business and leisure destinations, and strengthens our commitment to expanding our global network," said Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India.


The new service will strengthen Air India's presence in the United Kingdom (UK), where the airline offers a total of 54 weekly flights between India and the UK including services to both London-area hubs – Heathrow and Gatwick.


Combined, Air India offers a total of 48 weekly flights between India and London. To Gatwick, the airline will offer 17 weekly flights from Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Amristar, Goa, and Kochi. The airline also offers 31 weekly flights to Heathrow.  Additionally, Air India also operates six weekly flights to/from Birmingham.


Air India's new service between Bengaluru and London will compete with UK-based carriers British Airways and Virgin Atlantic which operates daily flights to/from Heathrow.
